Sacred Heart is offering the Crossing Borders Program starting Friday, September 17th, from 9:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. Movement of peoples is a complex issue that is reshaping the cultural, economic and political landscape of the planet. Anyone who speaks of simple solutions either does not understand it or is not listening. Each group in the immigration debate makes rightful claims to issues like economic stability, jobs, cultural integrity, fiscal constraints, national security, human rights, property rights, labor rights, law and order, and many other issues. Many are divided over this issue precisely because it creates fault lines between many values that are important to all who are struggling to find solutions. Finding common ground amidst the fractious debate is not easy, which is the reason why it has become such an incendiary, political issue. Here at Sacred Heart we are offering an eight week study of this important topic. The program provides participants a chance to find common ground and to discover more about themselves, our God, the teaching of the Catholic Church, and the millions of people who are on the move in every part of the world. To register or for more information, please call or email Bob and Kathy Marsh at 703-368-7276 or bandkmarsh@verizon.net.
Come one come all! On September 25th from 6:30 -11:00 p.m., Sacred Heart will sponsor an Oktoberfest celebration on the grounds behind the parish hall. All parishioners and friends are invited to participate and enjoy German foods, entertainment and refreshments. More information will be provided on flyers in the common area and through the bulletin in the coming weeks. Tickets will be available after masses. Stay tuned for more information.
